Insight is a new digital research project which aims to combine data collected from Museums, Galleries and Heritage venues, with wider data sets to gain a deeper understanding of what factors most greatly influence visitor spend. Using predictive analytic techniques, the Insight online platform effectively enables organisations to ‘forecast’ commercial performance, informing decision making, planning, and ultimately will enable organisations to see what elements they can adjust to stimulate greater spend from their visitors.

Participating organisations can expect to see a personalised online analysis platform and planning tools using benchmarking data that has been collected from participating organisations throughout the UK.

Supported by the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts – Nesta, Arts & Humanities Research Council and public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England – Insight is being delivered by three project partners; enterprise experts and cultural sector consultants Black Radley, software developers Ryan O’Neill Partnership and researchers from Bath Spa University’s Centre for Creative Computing.

Peter Collins, Project Manager at Black Radley said: “The response we’ve had from the sector so far has been tremendous. There is a clear need to drive organisational resilience using techniques that take in to consideration the many nuances that influence visitor behaviour and spend.”
