Winning the contract for the Exhibition Fit Out package in the Aircraft Factory & Flight Shed was just plane exciting! It was a pleasure to work with Ralph Appelbaum Associates, Focus Consultants and the rest of the client team at the museum.

The racing and aviation history of Brooklands was forever in our team’s minds throughout, to deliver the best end product possible to reflect such a rich and important history.

The project comprised Setworks, specialist joinery by Elmwood Projects, Electrics, Graphics, AV Hardware, Metalwork, Mounts (including mannequins), and Display Cases to the Bellman Hangar and Flight Shed display areas at Brooklands Museum in Weybridge, Surrey. Elmwood was also responsible for the coordination of the installation of large objects and the metalwork structures as well as the separately appointed subcontractors for Mechanical Interactives and AV Software.

His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent officially opened the project and the former director and CEO of Brooklands Museum Trust, Allan Winn was very complementary about Elmwood.

“Brooklands Museum employed Elmwood Projects Ltd as the fit-out contractor for its Brooklands Aircraft Factory and Flight Shed exhibitions during 2017. The combined works, covering in excess of 30,000ft2 of exhibition space across two buildings, posed a unique set of challenges for the contractor and had to be delivered against a very tight and immovable deadline. It is to the credit of Elmwood and, in particular, its on-site team that the works were delivered to the required standard in time for the Royal opening of the exhibitions to take place as scheduled despite delays imposed on them by remedial works to the base build which were outside their control. Throughout the project we were impressed by the flexibility, inventiveness and “can-do” attitude of the team, and we would be happy to recommend Elmwood to other organisations embarking on projects of similar complexity to ours.”
