The title of the conference is, The Museum in the Global Contemporary: Debating the Museum of Now and focusses on the conceptualisation and operation of the museum today. International Museum professionals from across the globe such as The Netherlands, New Zealand and China will be speaking.

hsd’s Company Founder Bill Haley said: “The 50th anniversary of the Museum Studies course is an important milestone for the museum sector worldwide. At hsd we are very pleased to support this event and are proud of our home city’s world-renowned School of Museum Studies. Many of our clients and employees have worked through Doctorates and MA courses at the university, benefitting from the expertise within the department.”

As part of hsd’s commitment to supporting the museum community, directors Jan Faulkner and Alisdair Hinshelwood along with Bill Haley will be opening the doors of hsd by hosting a series of “surgeries” for delegates to discuss their aspirations, hopes and ideas on the future shape of heritage attractions and museums across the world.

The School’s Director, Suzanne MacLeod, said: “Museum Studies at Leicester has collaborated with Haley Sharpe Design for more than 25 years. Having a team of internationally acclaimed designers on our doorstep has been a tremendous resource. We are delighted to have hsd as sole sponsor for this milestone conference and to have Bill, Jan and Alisdair share their expertise with delegates in creative surgeries.”

The conference will take place at Stamford Court at the University of Leicester. More than 200 lecturers, museum professionals, current and previous Museum Studies students, will be joining in this celebratory conference. The three-day event is filled with interesting speakers and pre-conference trips.

hsd has recently completed exhibitions at the new Stonehenge Visitor Centre and displays for Magna Carta: Spirit of Justice, Power of Words at Salisbury Cathedral, UK.
