The exhibition focused on the creation of the Gospels and the incredible journey it went on, and featured prestigious items on loan from other national institutions such as the British Library, including objects from the Staffordshire Hoard, silverware from the National Museum of Scotland, and other Anglo-Saxon texts from institutions including the Bodleian and Corpus Christi libraries.
BECK delivered the project as Principal Contractor within a challenging timeframe and within an occupied building, undertaking joinery and metalwork, stone clad setworks, scenic re-constructions, graphics, acrylic display cases and the re-installation of existing display cases.
Working closely with the exhibition designers Studio MB and the Client’s exhibition and conservation teams, we produced detailed setting out drawings for review and approval, setworks prototypes and a range of samples to meet Studio MB’s graphics’ specification which featured a range of challenging production techniques such as polished plaster, engraved stone, routered Oak and fabrics.
The exhibition has brought record numbers of visitors to the region and we have received feedback from the Client Team commenting that many of the exhibition components will be retained beyond the life of the exhibition due to their quality.
