The Tetley Workshop Carpet & Tapestry Conservation Studio is committed to ensuring the national collection of historic carpets and rugs is protected for the future. The workshop has built a reputation over twenty two years for practical conservation treatments to historic house carpets as well as for sound business practice.
The conservators are available for consultation on all matters related to the remedial and preventative conservation of historic textiles. Full written and photographic reports are kept on all objects in conservation at the workshop.
HISTORY
For over twenty years, The Tetley Workshop has built a reputation for practical conservation treatments to carpets as well as sound professional business practice.
The studio Originally traded as the Carpet Conservation Workshop. It was developed by Heather and Jonathan Tetley specifically to meet the need for conservation treatments to carpets, with their very varied uses and owners.
In the 1990’s, as well as cleaning and repairing a variety of small oriental and European rugs for domestic use, they undertook many important projects.
RECENT PROJECTS
The conservation of the Stateroom carpets at Buckingham Palace for The Royal Household and many rugs from the private apartments including rugs and tapestries from Clarence House and Royal Lodge, Windsor. Two major CMER projects have been completed recently for The National Trust, as well as numerous carpets and tapestries belonging to private collectors and owners.
