The NEW Sprite 4K interactive digital media player

The new Sprite 4K, model: DV-S4, interactive digital media player is designed and built for demanding applications such as information display, automated announcements, interactive entertainment and digital signage in museums, heritage centres, art galleries and themed visitor attractions. With no moving parts, it is a low-cost, solid-state, reliable replacement for aging DVD and obsolete LaserDisc players.

The new Sprite 4K is 100% plug-compatible and media compatible with the original and incredibly reliable predecessor, the Sprite, model: DV-S1, media player that has been used successfully in the same environments and applications for several years.

The Sprite 4K plays ultra-high definition (4K), high definition and standard definition digital video and high quality digital audio continuously and seamlessly or under control via a push-button switch, a PIR motion sensor or serial data from a computer or show controller. The Sprite 4K is easy to set up via its remote control and on-screen menu and does not require any programming. Video and audio media files are stored on and played from a standard micro-SD memory card or a USB memory stick inserted into the player.

The interactive capabilities of the Sprite 4K can be dramatically increased by connecting the Hydra Input / Output expander unit. The Hydra enables the Sprite 4K to accept up to 25 push-button switch inputs, up to 8 outputs that drive relays, LEDs, etc. and DMX512 – the industry standard for professional lighting and effects control. New operating modes for games, escape rooms and puzzle-solving applications have recently been added. A Hydra custom programming service is also available.

The system is automatically shut down to save energy when no visitors are present, and restarted when the system's PIR motion sensor detects a person approaching the exhibit.

An automated AV presentation system based on custom-programmed Hydra I/O expanders and regular Sprite HD media players is used in Belfast's Crumlin Road Gaol museum and visitor experience.
