The Natural History Museum has announced it is to close from tomorrow, citing front of house staff shortages which it said have been impacted by Covid-19 infections and isolation requirements.
The museum will remain closed to the public until Tuesday 28th December at the earliest, and said it hopes by that point “staffing levels will have recovered”.
In a statement, the museum said the decision was not “taken lightly” but that the safety of staff its visitors “must always come first”.
Refunds are to be issued to visitors who have purchased tickets for its Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Fantastic Beasts: The Wonder of Nature exhibitions over the closed dates.
The museum urged visitors to follow its newsletter and social media platforms for further updates on its reopening.
The Museum’s Ice Rink will continue to operate as scheduled as this is managed and staffed by external contractors who are currently able to continue the operation.
