The new Derby Museums from Home website has been set up to make online content easily accessible throughout the lockdown period, and has been inspired by the popularity of the #MuseumFromHome movement.

The microsite will enable users to take virtual tours of past exhibitions, view exclusive videos, and listen to podcasts and behind-the-scenes curator interviews. Further uploads will be made during the coming weeks.

“With so many of us shut inside or social distancing, the need to connect and stay in touch with our communities is stronger than ever,” says Hannah Fox, director of programmes and projects at Derby Museums.

“People are missing their cultural institutions just as we are missing them, and we want to continue the dialogue between us, sharing stories and ideas to help enrich all of our lives at this difficult time.

“This new microsite will help us do just that. Now you can ‘museum’ from anywhere and we will be sharing all sorts of playful, surprising and quirky content over the coming months to keep people engaged, learning and having fun until our doors can re-open”.

Linked to the main Derby Museums website, the microsite is now live at: www.derbymuseumsfromhome.com. Online content posted there will also be shared across the organisation’s social media platforms to maximise its reach.
