Abbie King has been announced as the Chief Operating Officer at The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, in a newly created role for the organisation.

In the new role, King will be tasked leading and driving the operational delivery and commercial performance of the Trust and finding improvements to visitor experience.

King will join the Trust in September from her current role as Director of the Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum in Dorset. Formerly King has served as Visitor Services Manager at The Tank Museum, Operations Manager at Weymouth Pavillion, and Retail Operations Manager at Lulworth Estate.

The Trust has agreed a three-year strategy to increase its financial resilience and its commercial offering to ensure future success.

Nick Ralls, Chief Executive of the Trust, said: “Following a highly competitive recruitment process, we are absolutely delighted to confirm Abbie’s appointment as Chief Operating Officer.

“As a key member of the senior leadership team, Abbie will contribute to our vision and aspirations joining us at an extremely important time. The Trust is rolling out a rebrand across the portfolio and focusing on further enhancing the visitor experience, something which Abbie will play a vital part in.

“We have a number of exciting projects, some recently delivered and others currently underway, including our hugely popular Madeley Wood Outdoor Adventure for children, as well as the introduction of our new tickets, The PASS and The PASS PLUS and an ambitious £10m project supported by the National Heritage Memorial Fund to conserve our historic estate.”
