The East Anglian site, which, alongside Christchurch Mansion and Ipswich Art Gallery, is operated under the Ipswich Museums umbrella, will be the subject of redevelopment works in the coming months.

The institution is hoping a redesign will “make it relevant and inspiring” to the communities living nearby.

“We will be redesigning the displays for the existing collections within the museum, finding new interactive ways to engage with these stories, improving the shop and cafe, and finding new ways to entertain and learn with our local communities,” according to a statement released via Twitter.

Decisions will be partly informed by an informal public consultation, with opinions being gathered through an online survey.

To incentivise local residents’ participation, Ipswich Museums is holding a prize draw to win one of four £50 Tesco shopping vouchers for those who submit responses prior to the closing date of 3rd July.
