Between the 16th and 22nd November this year, kids and young people will be taking the reins at museums and heritage sites across the UK.

More than 5,000 people now take part in the annual Takeover Day, assuming roles including: tour guides, curators, shop assistants, cleaners, welcome hosts, receptionists, press officers and conservators.

Digital Takeover Day will also be returning in the summer, with social media feeds getting a youthful overhaul on 3rd July 2020.

How to take part

Takeover Day planning resources, including case studies, templates and a step-by-step film guide, are readily available on the Kids in Museums website to help plan an event.

To register your institution, simply sign up online to be added to the organisation’s online map. Support materials, all the necessary information and help to promote your event on social media and in the press will subsequently be made available.
