Manchester Museum has recorded its one millionth visit this week, just over a year after its reopening in February 2023.

The museum announced the milestone on social media, and were on hand to greet and reward the one millionth visitors, a family from Liverpool who were at the museum for the first time. They were handed gifts by museum director Esme Ward to celebrate, the museum said.

Taking to X to reshare the post, Ward wrote “Happy museum moment!!!”.

The reopening last year concluded the museum’s £15 million ‘hello future’ transformation project, supported by public funding from Arts Council England, The National Lottery Heritage Fund, The University of Manchester, and philanthropic supporters.

Last March, the museum’s first week alone saw it count 50,000 visits.
