This weekend The Museum of London closed, ahead of a major relocation and a new name for 2026 – The London Museum.

As part of its closing celebrations, the museum reports it saw 13,000 people attending its final music-focussed weekend on 3-4 December 2022, for which it was open for 24 hours.

The 13,000 visitors mark the busiest weekend in its 45 years history.

Over 78,000 people visited the Museum of London in its final month at London Wall, with visitors given a final chance to visit the museum’s free exhibitions ‘Harry Kane: I want to play football’ and ‘Grime Stories: from the corner to the mainstream’.

Last month The City of London Corporation approved updated plans by the Museum of London to relocate and refurbish the new site at West Smithfield.

The Museum of London Docklands will remain open to visitors throughout and will become The London Museum Docklands from January 2023.
