This year's Museum + Heritage Awards shortlist was made from hundreds of entries with an esteemed judging panel painstakingly deliberating over an exceptionally strong field.

Winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony on Wednesday, 29 April in the Historic Staterooms of 8 Northumberland Avenue (tickets can be booked here) with comedian Marcus Brigstocke entertaining guests. “The standard was very high this year and every place on the shortlist was hard fought,” said Bernard Donoghue, judge and director of the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions.

As part of the awards Museums + Heritage has teamed up with Guardian Culture Professionals Network for the Culture Pros Pick to find the most inspiring museum or heritage attraction. More than 400 suggestions were put forward for this year’s award and the final shortlist is now open to a public vote with a 20 March deadline.
