The Society of Antiquaries of London has appointed a new General Secretary & Chief Executive.

Natasha McEnroe will join the society of historians and archaeologists from April. She joins from the Science Museum, where she was Keeper of Medicine for seven years.

Natasha will start as General Secretary & Chief Executive in April 2024.

Martin Millett, President of the Society of Antiquaries said McEnroe’s passion for history makes her “well placed to usher in the beginning of an exciting new chapter.”

On her appointment, McEnroe said: “Through supporting historic research andsharing this knowledge with a wide and diverse audience, we will encourage public understanding of the past and the lessons history can teach us.”

McEnroe joins as the society’s lease at Burlington House is secured for the future.

After talks with The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, the society also announced that it has been granted a 999-year leasehold agreement at the Mayfair building.

Burlington House Is also occupied by the Geological Society of London, Linnean Society of London, Royal Astronomical Society, and theRoyal Society of Chemistry. The Society of Antiquaries also owns Kelmscott Manor, the former home of William Morris and his family.
