In line with the much-discussed ‘new normal’ that cultural venues must adapt to when reopening after coronavirus restrictions are eased, we have partnered with security and risk management advisory firm IJA to deliver a webinar focused on temperature monitoring solutions.

The session, which will take place at 11am on Thursday 4th June, will be co-chaired by Nick Johnson, commercial director and senior consultant at IJA, and the Show’s content manager, Sara Bowen.

While the webinar will in no way seek to offer a solve-all path for museums to safely reopen, it will explore some of the options open to venues in conjunction with the associated benefits and pitfalls of each idea.

With no ‘silver bullet’ for the sector to conclusively deal with the risks of reopening prior to a Covid-19 vaccine, key questions for many industry professionals are how to implement tech-driven solutions without jeopardising visitor health, privacy or security.

As such, the session will tackle topics including:

  • The ethics around data and GDPR
  • Limitations of the available scanning solutions
  • Staff safety if deployed to test visitors
  • Permanent and temporary installation practicalities
  • How to prevent queues forming at testing points
  • Keeping designated areas clean and secure

The session’s co-hosts will be joined by four professionals with expertise in this field. Each will deliver a talk lasting around ten minutes to share their perspective on the debate and highlight options open to cultural sites. This will be followed by a Q&A which any registered attendee can participate in by submitting a question.
