In 2017, Kazakhstan will host a specialised international exposition in the capital city of Astana. Expo Astana 2017 has been dedicated to the theme of “Future Energy” and will host more than 135,000m² of international pavilions, four themed pavilions, a major entertainment complex and conference centre, alongside hotel and residential areas.
BECK have been appointed, on a design and build basis with Cultural Innovations, to design and build the Africa and Caribbean Community Plazas, on behalf of the Astana Expo 2017 National Company. Cultural Innovations’ design concept for the Community Plazas takes visitors through dramatic theatrical environments that showcase pioneering initiatives in sustainability and future energy while celebrating the respective continent’s diverse, vibrant cultures and extraordinary natural environments. The Africa and Caribbean pavilions will host exhibitions for up to 21 and 14 individual countries respectively, and will include performance areas, VIP, catering and retail spaces.
Expo Astana 2017 will run from 10th June 2017 to 10th September 2017 and is expected to attract more than five million visits.
