Jack Biddle (22) from Burntwood, Staffordshire, joined hsd as an intern for three months last summer for part of his BA at Leeds Beckett University. He impressed the company’s management with his skills and work ethic leaving with a job offer to come back to after finishing his degree. Jack has now joined hsd’s studio as a full time Junior Designer.

“I really enjoyed my internship at hsd,” he said. “I saw first-hand some really exciting projects, in the UK but also in North America, which I hope I can pick up on now that I’m an official hsd employee.”

“I’ve always had an interest in architecture and design and to finish my internship with a job offer from a leading design consultancy was brilliant. Having worked with the hsd team for three months I experienced the variety of projects they work on, making every day unique. Being able to work in the studio and have a voice within the design team is also an amazing opportunity for a graduate. I already feel settled and I’m looking forward to the challenge of working on live projects as part of the hsd collective!”

One of the projects Jack contributed to during his internship was the National Music Centre in Calgary, Canada. hsd is the exhibit designer for the new centre which will provide a 160.000 square feet complex featuring festival-like gallery spaces that will take visitors on a journey through an array of objects, sounds and activities, all providing stories of the eclectic music of Canada.

Creative Director Jan Faulkner said: “We were really impressed by Jack when he was with us during the summer of last year and are excited to welcome him back to hsd. We’re looking forward to seeing him grow and develop new knowledge and skills as he’s a great asset to our studio. Investing in young talent is important to us as we want to ensure that we’ve got the right skills in place to meet the continually increasing demand for our services in the museum and heritage sector.”
