Purcell’s project at the National Mining Museum Scotland has been awarded a commendation in the Small Projects category at this year’s Edinburgh Architecture Association (EAA) Awards. The Memorial Centre includes memorial, exhibition and storytelling spaces to commemorate those who dedicated their lives to mining in Scotland.
The EAA Small Projects Award acknowledges excellence in architecture for a completed project with a contract sum of under £250,000. This is the first time that Purcell has been recognised for this award. Senior Architect Scott Lindsay said: “Our Edinburgh studio is thrilled to be awarded this accolade for the National Mining Museum Scotland Memorial Centre, especially given the budgetary and programming restrictions, which gave rise to a challenging and exciting outcome. We are very proud to be given recognition for this gem of a project. The commendation acknowledges Purcell’s work in the cultural sector in Scotland.”
The EAA Awards were announced and presented at a drinks reception in the Assembly Rooms on Tuesday 1st April attended by around one hundred architects, sponsors and their guests.Back to top
