The Tank Museum, based in Dorset, houses the world’s finest collection of tanks displayed in awe-inspiring, modern exhibitions. With over 300 vehicles on exhibit the museum welcomes over 200k visitors every year. The museum not only houses multiple exhibition halls but also plays host to annual events such as ‘Tank Fest’ and Tiger Days.

With visitor numbers increasing year-on-year, the management team looked to replace their existing EPOS and ticketing solution to support their growing success. After an industry member’s recommendation, VisiSoft were approached by The Tank Museum to showcase how their multidiscipline solution would work in all outlets including the admissions desk, hospitality outlets and retail stores.

After an initial requirements meeting VisiSoft were appointed as the museum’s new EPOS provider and were set to be an early adopter of a newly developed online ticketing solution dubbed ‘VisiTickets’. Lee Drew from VisiSoft commented “This was a special project for us, we’d like to thank The Tank Museum for being an early adopter of VisiTickets. Everyone involved has worked hard to get this project live and it is very rewarding to see the success of the implementation.”

The Tank Museum’s new EPOS and Ticketing system connects together every outlet across their site. It is also integrated into their Sage 50 accounts software for financial reporting and connected to their online Shopify website. The Tank Museum are now able to produce reports and set up bespoke online dashboards to view a range of subject matters including HMRC compliant Gift Aid reporting, memberships & renewals and stock levels both online and instore. The online ticketing element provides members and ‘Friends Of’ the museum to manage their membership and bookings online. Since launch this has been a great success as it allows them to plan resource and reduce the number of inbound calls from visitors needing to alter their bookings.

The Tank Museum set a ‘Go Live’ date in one of their initial meetings with VisiSoft as it was important the implementation went ahead out of hours and in their least busy season. That ‘Go Live’ date was achieved, plus staff training was provided onsite by the VisiSoft team ahead of launch to make sure it worked exactly to their requirements.

Simon Prager, Head of Commercial Operations at the Museum, has been involved throughout the process and commented “The process with VisiSoft has been great, from initial requirements meetings to go live and support. We are more than happy with our new EPOS and ticketing solution and would absolutely recommend VisiSoft to other visitor attractions and museums.”

With future requirements including the full transition to VisiSoft’s stock control in the near future, this is just the start of a great working relationship between The Tank Museum and VisiSoft.
