About

Humidity Solutions is the UK’s leading independent specialist in humidity control, combining an unparalleled range of high-quality products with many years of application knowledge.

Museums and galleries are some of the most demanding applications for humidity control, due to the need for very close control and the varying nature of the buildings and their contents.  Humidity Solutions delivers innovative and creative humidification and dehumidification solutions tailored to the specific requirements of each customer.

The impact of humidity on delicate works of art and other exhibits is well understood, so that many museums and galleries require close environmental control in both public areas and storage facilities. This requirement is addressed by BS5454, which specifies that relative humidity (RH) should be in the range 40-65% (+/-5%) and temperatures in the range 16-19°C (+/-1°C).

Environmental conditions may also be dictated by insurance companies or benefactors that are lending a piece to the venue.

Increasing awareness is being made of the need to protect our Indoor Air Quality, and specifically as museums and galleries open up once again to the public after the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is vital that steps are taken to improve air quality and reduce the spread of transmission of bacteria and viruses in public areas such as reception, gift shops and any spaces where larger groups will gather.

Humidity Solutions has a variety of solutions to monitor and improve indoor air quality, including a state of the art, free-standing air purifier with excellent Hepa filtration and the ability to handle large volumes of air, so highly suitable for these buildings.

Testimonials

“Oxford University has a well-established relationship with Humidity Solutions and the company has provided humidity control for a number of our buildings, including the Paper Conservation Laboratory and the Chinese Picture Store at the Ashmolean Museum, The Sackler and Weston Libraries, both part of the Bodleian Library.

We have always been impressed by the application knowledge of Humidity Solutions staff, which enables them to work within the criteria dictated by each unique building, to create exactly the right environment for each situation.  The installation process and ongoing maintenance and service of the equipment is also dealt with professionally, and I would highly recommend this company.”
