Visitor Studies Group

The Visitor Studies Group (VSG) is a dedicated community of Visitor Studies professionals. We promote dialogue, facilitate debate and provide continuing professional development opportunities.

The group was established in 1998 to provide training and support for practitioners working in the relatively new field of Visitor Studies. Today Visitor Studies is acknowledged as having a central role in developing and maintaining a relevant relationship between the institution and the visitor.

The Visitor Studies Group continues to offer high quality training and professional development opportunities to its members with the work underpinned by an ethos of skills-sharing. It is this ethos that makes the VSG unique. We believe that good practice requires investment in those practicing visitor studies and those using visitor studies. Our annual programme addresses each through members’ events and information and resources published on the website.

Objectives:

• To actively promote and provide an annual programme of high quality training, development and skills-sharing opportunities
• To provide a website with information and resources to support best practice in Visitor Studies including practical case studies, methodology and research
• To present opportunities to debate current issues in Visitor Studies
• To offer members opportunities to influence the Visitor Studies community through Committee membership
• To facilitate the exchange of ideas between the many disciplines where Visitor Studies practitioners operate
