The Museum of Homelessness has announced it is now moving into its first bricks-and-mortar location at Manor House Lodge in Finsbury Park, London.
The museum said community programmes have now begun from its first location, and its doors will be opened to the public from Spring 2024.The museum has signed a ten year community lease agreement at the location.
Earlier this year the museum announced it would push back its public opening which had initially been planned for 2023.
In July the museum said its community and Board had agreed to “dedicate the rest of this year to community focused activity” instead of opening to visitors.
It said the move comes after 32 months of lease negotiations and building works at Manor House Lodge.
Funding for the location comes from Historic England, The Linbury Trust, Rede, Oak Foundation, Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Arts Council England.
The museum is hoped to serve as a creative hub that hosts performances, talks and workshops developed by people with experience of homelessness.
