The V&A has begun a search for five ‘superfans’ which it hopes will assist in its understanding of modern cultural trends.

‘Superfan Advisors’ of Taylor Swift, Crocs footwear, drag culture, emojis, and tufting (rug making) are sought by the organisation.

Those chosen will meet curatorial experts at the V&A and share their knowledge about their specialist subject. In return they will be given a chance to go behind the scenes at the V&A to view relevant items from the collection.

The V&A said it will cover reasonable travel costs to the museum for a curatorial meeting, and successful candidates will receive a V&A Membership as part of the role.

It is currently recruiting for the roles which will close on 7 March 2024.

Museum director Tristram Hunt said: “These new advisory roles will help us celebrate and discover more about the enormous, and often surprising, creative diversity on offer at the V&A, as well as helping us to learn more about the design stories that are relevant to our audiences today.”
