The government has announced the fourth round of its Museum Estate and Development Fund, with £23.8m to be committed to Arts Council England accredited museums.
Intended to support capital projects, fund urgent repairs, and improve visitor experience, it will make available grants from £50,000 to £5 million.
Expressions of Interest open on Monday 4 March 2024 via Arts Council England. Applicants will be notified of the decision outcome in March 2025.
Since it was launched in 2021, 67 projects have received a total of more than £40m from the Department for Culture, Media & Sport fund which is delivered by Arts Council England.
Round Three sees £22.6m distributed. The 36 recipients in Round Two were announced last year.
Darren Henley, Chief Executive of Arts Council England, said the newly announced investment “can make sure our museums are fit for the future, and can make an even greater contribution to their local economies and communities.”
